We are thrilled to celebrate the achievements of Ami Janse van Rensburg, a 4th-year student in our SIMMET group, who recently presented her research at the “SAAWK Studentesimposium in die Natuurwetenskappe 2024” held at the University of the Free State. Her presentation, titled “‘n Ondersoek na die gebruik van biokool as ‘n grondbehandeling om plantegroei te bevorder” (“Investigating the use of biochar as a soil amendment to improve plant growth”), was delivered in Afrikaans.

Ami’s work on biochar as a sustainable soil enhancer is part of our commitment to advancing eco-friendly solutions in agriculture. Congratulations to Ami on this milestone, and thank you to Prof. Potgieter for the opportunity to showcase our group’s work at such a prestigious event!
