We are excited to announce a series of events and updates for our research group. These activities are designed to enhance our collaborative efforts and provide valuable learning and professional development opportunities. Below is a summary of the upcoming seminars, conferences, and other important events. Please mark your calendars and participate actively to maximise these opportunities.
- The first research seminar of the group is planned for 10 July, and will then be followed by regular updates every three weeks. Preparations are underway to register and arrange transport for members who will attend the upcoming Hydromet 2024 conference in Stellenbosch from 1-3 Sept and the Global Conference on Chemical Engineering (GCCE) from 6-11 October in Cape town.
- Prof Kersten Forsberg, one of the keynote speakers at the Hydromet 2024 Conference in Stellenbosch, will visit the SIMMET group on Thursday 29 August and give a talk at 3:00pm in the afternoon on the Sc recovery research she and her group are doing. She diarise this, it will be really interesting and have a bearing on your own work too.
- There is a student conference in October at the University of the Free State, organised by the SA Academy of Arts and Sciences. Anyone who is brave enough to present their project work in Afrikaans, can take part and should contact Prof Potgieter if they are interested to do so.
- Please remember the SAIMM student symposium towards the middle of October, where the 4th years can present their projects and compete with their peers from neighbouring universities for prizes.
